A la vez opulenta y misteriosa, Iris de Pietro Mascagni , compuesta en 1898 con libreto de Luigi Illica, recibió su estreno norteamericano en Bard SummerScape en 2016. La American Symphony Orchestra bajo la batuta del maestro Leon Botstein actuó con un brillante elenco de cantantes consumados, entre ellos el tenor australiano Gerard Schneider como un Osaka amenazante e insensible junto a la soprano Talise Travigne, que encarnaba conmovedoramente la ingenuidad y fragilidad del personaje epónimo.
